Amplitude Modulation AM Bandwidth Calculator

This tool calculates the bandwidth of an AM signal.

Formula

The modulating signal is given by the equation

m(t) = A_m cos(2π f_m t)

and the carrier signal be,

c(t) = A_c cos(2π f_c t)

Where,

• A_m is the amplitude of the modulating signal
• A_c is the amplitude of the carrier signal
• f_m is the frequency of the modulating signal 
• f_c is the frequency of the carrier signal

Then, the equation of Amplitude Modulated wave will be

s(t) = [A_c + A_m cos(2π f_m t)] cos(2π f_c t)

The AM signal is shown below. The bandwidth of the signal is 2*f_m
