This tool calculates the reflected power from the reflection coefficient

## Formula

**Reflected Power (%) = 100*(|Γ| ^{2})**

where **Γ** is the reflection coefficient and **0 < Γ** **< 1**

**Background**

The reflection coefficient is the ratio between the level of the incident waveform to the level of the reflected waveform.

The incident power **P _{INC}** is the sum of the reflected power

**P**and forward power

**Γ = √(P _{R}/P_{INC})**

Expressed as a percentage,

**Γ = √(P _{R}%/100)**

**P _{R}% = 100*(Γ^{2})**

**Example Calculation**

For a reflection coefficient of 0, none of the power is reflected back and all of it is transmitted forward (an ideal situation).

For a reflection coefficient of 1, all of the power is reflected back (worst possible scenario).
