This tool converts a Power value in dBm to its equivalent Current in Amps or Amperes.
Enter
- Power in dBm (PdBm)
- Impedance (Z). The default value is 50 ohm although it can be changed to any value
Select the desired output unit of current – A/mA/μA/nA
Formula
I = √(10(PdBm-30/10)/Z)
Example Calculation
1 dBm into a 50 ohm resistor gives a current of 5 mA. As the impedance decreases for a fixed value of power (in dBm), the current increases. At 1 ohm for instance, the current increases to 35 mA.
Notes
- Amp is often used as a short form of Amperes – a unit of current. If you would like to convert PdBm to Amplitude instead, use this calculator.
